I'm being asked to complete a captcha when doing keyword research

After you have performed a number of queries, Google will require you to fill out a captcha. They do this to detect automatic queries and determine whether you are human. You can safely answer the captcha to proceed with the search, or you can try one of the two TT-compatible captcha-resolving services:
  1. Death by Captcha: http://www.deathbycaptcha.com/
  2. De-Captcher: http://www.de-captcher.com
If you choose to use one of these services, please enter your login details in Program Options > Captchas in Traffic Travis, as shown below.

Also, please set the timer delay to at least 7 seconds.

If you don't want to use captcha-resolving services, then you can switch off automatic updates on the following sections for each of your projects. Edit your project by clicking on the pencil-and-paper icon below its name and then go to "Update Settings" and change the following to "Never":

Search Rankings
- AdWords Competition

If you do this, Traffic Travis won't automatically update your AdWords Competition and Search Rankings data. You can continue to update this data manually. If a captcha is displayed, just enter the captcha and Traffic Travis will continue the analysis.
